Getting a clear picture is important during your private pregnancy scan in London. It can take some patience for us to get the pictures we need, especially if the baby is in the wrong position. Sometimes we do have to give up on finding out whether your baby is a boy or a girl. However, there are a couple of things you can do to help us get a clear picture during an ultrasound.
Drinking Water Before Your Ultrasound
The best thing you can do to help us get a clear picture during your private pregnancy scan is to make sure you have a full bladder when you come to the clinic. When your bladder is full, it shifts down, which presses your bowels down a little too. This gives us a clearer view of your womb and the baby inside. However, you don’t need to drink more than normal or to make your self uncomfortable. It is usually best to empty your bladder about an hour before the appointment and then to drink a glass or two of water before the scan. If your bladder still feels too full, don’t try to hold it in as it is better to be comfortable during your ultrasound.
Preparing for 4D Ultrasound Scans
If you are visiting a clinic in London for a 4D private pregnancy scan, you should prepare in the same way and expect the same kinds of issues with positioning, especially as your baby will be a little older and larger. You will also need to be patient if you want to get a good picture of your baby’s face. If we can’t do it right away, we may ask you to walk around for ten minutes to try and wake the baby up and encourage it to change position. It can help if you pick a time of day for the appointment when your baby tends to be more active.
