The Woman’s Wellness Centre has dedicated senior sonographers and expert fetal medicine consultants to bring you the clearest gynecological and fetal imagery available.
Gynaecological Assessments – Ultrasound scan may be used to confirm a diagnosis of uterine fibroids or to check for any other abnormalities.
Follicular Tracking – If you are trying to conceive, we can scan your follicles to measure their thickness. Together with LH testing, it can give you an accurate indication of when to have intercourse so that you have the best chance of achieving pregnancy. This natural method may prevent you from having to have IVF. A scan can also provide information about the number of follicles you have, which, together with hormone blood tests can give an estimation of your ovarian reserve (the number of eggs left in your ovaries).
Early Pregnancy Assessment – If you have conceived after an assisted reproductive technique, you have a history of miscarriage or a pre-existing condition, we can scan your baby at the earliest stages of development for your reassurance and to detect the fetal heartbeat.
Dating Scan – The dating scan, or fetal viability scan, is done between 6 weeks and 10 weeks gestation to date the pregnancy. This is more accurate than the date of the last menstrual period. It can also detect the fetal heartbeat, assess pain or bleeding or see how many babies are in the uterus.
Nuchal Translucency Scan – This scan measures fluid behind the baby’s neck. A larger amount indicates an increased risk for Down Syndrome. This scan is usually done between 11 and 13 weeks gestation.
Fetal Cardiac Scan – This is a detailed scan of the baby’s heart, carried out by a Fetal Cardiac Specialist. This is usually offered if increased fluid was seen on the nuchal translucency scan, an abnormality was detected at the anomaly scan or if the woman has a family history of heart abnormalities.
Fetal Anomaly Scan – This is a scan done at 20-22 weeks pregnant to check the anatomy of the baby and to check for any genetic abnormalities. The gender of the baby can also be identified if the parents wish.
Fetal Wellbeing Scan – This scan is done between 24-42 weeks of pregnancy to check baby’s growth and blood flow to the placenta.
