Plastic reconstructive surgery

in Chelsea, London

Plastic surgery involves restoring form and function to areas of the body that have been affected by birth anomalies, injury, cancer or other conditions. Reconstructive surgery procedures aim to resume normality for patients. Surgery cannot be performed without creating scar tissue but optimising scars is an area of specialisation on its own.

Our expert Consultant Plastic Surgeon is also specialised in Paediatric plastic surgery.

The Women’s Wellness Centre offers a range of procedures and treatments for:

  • Congenital anomalies
  • Congenital birth mark
  • Extra digits and accessory auricles
  • Flaps and skin grafts
  • Plagiocephaly
  • Prominent ear correction
  • Scar correction

Skin surgery

Skin surgery is often necessary to remove skin complaints such as moles which have changed in appearance, lesions, lumps, bumps, blemishes and skin cancer. In the majority of cases, this can be done under local anaesthetic, whilst awake. Occasionally children are born with skin conditions including birth marks, vascular anomalies or extra ear appendages, which usually require removal under general anaesthetic.

Non-surgical options, such as derma-rollering, BOTOX and filler, are available at the Centre and also help address skin anomalies such as acne scarring, wrinkles and volume deficiency (i.e sagging skin).

  • Facial swelling
  • Malignant melanoma
  • Skin anomaly
  • Skin cancer
  • Tissue expansion

Facial surgery

In some circumstances, facial surgery is essential (i.e to remove an area of skin cancer). In other cases, it can prove just as necessary for those suffering from facial asymmetries, birth anomalies or differences. This can be stigmatising, cause anxiety and having a detrimental affect on self confidence. Lifestyle stressors, weather exposure and age also take their toll.

  • Brow lifting
  • Craniofacial surgery
  • Facial asymmetry correction
  • Facial plastic surgery
  • Facial scar correction (redirect)

Hand surgery

Hand surgery is a complex subspecialty area of plastic and reconstructive surgery due to the close proximity of nerves, arteries and tendons alongside the relative shortage of skin. As a person ages, the bones, joints, tendons and skin change, which can cause arthritis and thickening under the skin and around the tendons. Pain and lumpy growths affect the way our hands can be used.

  • Arthritis
  • De Quervain’s disease
  • Dupuytrens disease
  • Hand lumps
  • Numb hands and fingers
  • Occupational and physio- hand therapy
  • Skier’s thumb
