About Mrs Maria Kyrgiou
Dr Maria Kyrgiou is a Consultant Surgeon in Gynaecology and Gynaecologic Oncology and a clinical academic. She has trained in obstetrics and gynaecologist and subsequently specialised in advanced minimal access / keyhole surgery (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) and gynaecologic oncology at the West London Gynaecological Cancer Centre.
She completed a masters of science (MSc) in advanced gynaecological endoscopy and a doctorate thesis in gynaecological cancer. Her main clinical interest is general gynaecology and gynaecologic oncology, colposcopy/vulvoscopy, minimal access surgery, endometriosis, fibroids, menstrual disorders, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, rapid access services for suspected cancer, early pregnancy and surgery for benign and (pre)cancerous gynaecological conditions.
In addition to her work at The Women’s Wellness Centre, Dr Maria Kyrgiou is a Consultant at Imperial College NHS Trust and a Clinical Reader (Associate Professor) at Imperial College London. Dr Kyrgiou is recognised nationally and internationally for her research and has published extensively in major scientific journals. She contributes to a number of national and international committees such as the International Federation of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (IFCPC) research committee.
She is frequently invited to give lectures in national and international conferences of her specialty.
